HOLLAND BIKES FOUNDERS

After studying management in Rotterdam, Rob Lemmerlijn and Bart Vos met at General Motors in Paris, where they worked side by side for several years.

These two friends decided to settle permanently in France and embark on a joint project focusing on urban mobility.

Being Dutch, they found it impossible to leave behind their Dutch lifestyle of daily biking.

So they set about developing soft mobility in France, inspired by their roots and, above all, embodied by the illustrious Dutch bike, hence the name of the Holland Bikes company.

Rob Lemmerlijn

Rob Lemmerlijn

Rob is a big fan of Gazelle's classic Dutch bike!

Cycling is all about freedom. You decide when and how you want to travel, with no time or traffic constraints.

Rob Lemmerlijn

Bart Vos

Bart is a big fan of cargo bikes, and thinks there's nothing better for shopping.

My dream is that one day children in France will be able to get around freely, without the help of their parents, as they do in the Netherlands. It's not that complicated, all you have to do is install safe cycle lanes.

IN THE BEGINNING

In the 2000s, most European countries, including France, were car-oriented. No cycle lanes were created and nothing was thought of for city bikes, unlike in the Netherlands.

The French bike market was devoted exclusively to sport and leisure.

AN AMBITIOUS DREAM

In 2002, Rob Lemmerlijn and Bart Vos founded Holland Bikes Velomotion. What followed was a two-year road trip to convince French dealers, Dutch manufacturers and brands to join the adventure.

They succeeded in bringing the Dutch way of life to France. They were among the first to distribute electric and cargo bikes in France.
